Eagle Scouts talk about achievements and future

On Saturday, April 19, the Scouting America Troop 303 in Springtown gained three new Eagle Scouts, Kasyn Davis, Tyler Russell and Trevor Russell at the court of honor. This is the highest rank achievable among the Scouts. To become an Eagle Scout, candidates can earn up to 21 merit badges with a minimum of 14 required, be a Life Scout for six months, serve in a leadership position with their troop for six months, pass an Eagle Scout board of review and complete a comprehensive community service project. The minimum time commitment to become an Eagle Scout is twoand- a-half years.

Timothy Davis has been the scoutmaster for Troop 303 for five years. Davis became involved when his son joined the Scouts at the age of 12. Davis was approached by the former scoutmaster, Mike Anderson, to go on a camping trip when another adult was needed. Scoutmasters must go through training and be selected by the troop committee.
