Springtown city officials and Walnut Creek SUD manager give their take on purchasing Reno’s water department
As election day gets closer to the city of Reno, many residents have been left wondering what would happen to their water if Reno voters decide to disincorporate.
Currently, the city of Reno operates a groundwater system. If a city in Texas disincorporates, its water department’s functions and assets would likely be taken over by the county or another entity such as a Municipal Utility District (MUD) or a water district. The county government or a pre-existing or newly formed water utility entity could assume responsibility for the water services to the area that was formerly part of the disincorporated city.
