The conviction and 35year prison sentence a Parker County jury gave a Springtown man for repeatedly sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl, which had been overturned by a trial judge last August, were reinstated by a Fort Worth appeals court Thursday, April 3.
Last May, Aniceto Turrubiates Sanchez, 39, was convicted of continuous sexual abuse of a young child for an offense that came to light in 2021 when a woman came home early from work and found the victim naked from the waist down in bed with Sanchez. In her testimony, the wife told jurors Sanchez claimed he was asleep. However, when she asked the girl, she was told Sanchez had been molesting her.
After jurors convicted and sentenced Sanchez, his appellate attorney filed a motion for a new trial with 415th District Judge Graham Quisenberry, who presided over the trial. The motion claimed statements the victim made to a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) with Cook Children’s Hospital and a forensic interviewer with the Children’s Advocacy Center of Parker County were erroneously admitted into evidence and that he should get a new trial.
