On March 18, the city council unanimously approved the purchase of four additional police vehicles.
Springtown City Administrator David Miller explained to the council that due to an increase in the size of the police department, the Springtown PD needs to acquire three to four additional patrol vehicles.
Due to the increase of the School Resource Officer division from two officers in 2019 to seven officers currently — each requiring a take-home vehicle per the city’s contract with the school district — many of the vehicles the agency intended to retire have had to remain in the fleet.
